Myself and my husband have been expats now for a little over three years now, living in Dubai for most of the three years and now about to embark on our new adventure in Amsterdam. My husband a veteran when it comes from living away from family left Ireland when he was 18. Me a Bristol gal born and raised the furthest I had ever gone from to live was Cardiff. I found the move here extremely exciting at first but when the holiday feeling wears off the homesickness sets in.We quickly made some good friends but I never quite settled until we had LPV!!( Liver was shouting yippeee, I’m safe from Friday brunch)
In 2010 our son, little LPV joined the Vaughan family and turned our world up side down for the better, my initial feeling of “oh no I don’t know anyone with a young baby” quickly vanished. Since having a baby I have met some amazing friends from all over the globe who can share in the absolute high and lows, the amazing emotional rollercoaster that is motherhood!! Now I can say I am proud to be part of the “Mummy Mafia” (this is what my husband calls us)
This blog is for Mammies, Daddies or anyone else who would like to know what life is like as an expat with young children, you get to see what LPV and I get up too here in Amsterdam, get my take on motherhood and the joys of postnatal depression!!
